Steroids are illegal in our country. Why is professional bodybuilding (like the IFBB for instance) allowed to exsist? These men are all clearly on steroids, so shouldnt professional bodybuilding be illegal too?

They are only illegal if you do not have a prescription from a physician.

Besides Ronnie Coleman is natural don't ya know

Good question. I have NO IDEA. By the way, Ronnie Coleman used to be a cop. I read that he quit the force since he's obviously taking his fair share of steroids.

I saw one of his videos and there was also footage about his job. Dang it was funny to see him going to check out domestic violence incident. When he entered the room the raging husband went dead calm :D

lol. what video is this? redemption by any chance?

Because in steroids and sports people only really care if the roids are used to gain a competitive advantage over other athletes. In body building on that level they're all obviously 'on', so there's no unlevel playing field or anything like that. Plus since body building is not a major sport like baseball or football, it's under the radar. No one really cares unless it's sensationalized or otherwise in their face.

Years ago when I was on steroids I received magnificent gains, but a short while after I quit them I lost a great portion of my size.
That is why I really don’t really care too much for them now.
Maybe they have some new roids nowadays that don’t produce the same results.
It would be nice to see a contest of all natural bodybuilders.
To really see what can be done when it is just you and the steele.
Thanks
Sonny

If you want to see a contest of natural bodybuilders, just check out some stuff from the pre-dianabol era. Respectable physiques in most of those guys, but not many of them come close to the steroid using bodybuilders.

Steroids are not something to be taken lightly. There are too many people who think they mean instant gains. On this other forum, some kid who is only 130 lbs and can't even bench his bodyweight is considering a test/m1t cycle. It's crazy. I just wish they weren't so easy for people to get their hands on, since so many people are willing to use them without doing the proper research first. There was another guy who took them, ate like a hog and complained that he was getting fat, no muscle. When asked about his routine, he was like "routine? You have to work out?"

I personally appreciate more men`s body fitness. I don`t know excactly how popular this is around the world, but here in Scandinavia it`s gettin more and more comperitors. Basically it`s bodybuilding with doping testing and the poses are anatomical. Also there is a weight limit corresponding to your height

Should be hitting rookie nationals next year, i hope ;)

There are a lot of "natural bodybuilding competitions" that do drug test and lie detector tests. I personally, know of a couple of guys who enter them. One guy who I was training with that was a natural pro competed at 6' 187lbs ripped out of his mind. There used to be a magazine called "Natural Bodybuilder" or something like that. I don't know if it's still around but, I think it was more or less like a softcore homosexual porn mag anyway, with all kinds of homo erotic advertising. Wasn' t exactly my cup of tea. But the point I was trying to make is that you can see modern day bodybuilding with out steroids.

thats true, but most of them require a minimum of 5-7 years of being drug free.  How foolproof the lie detector and drug test are is questionable though.  Another thing is that I believe in most of the competitions ephedra, and prohormones are admissable so it really isn't all that drug free.

But there is still a clear difference between the "natural" shows and the ones that aren't. You can usually tell just by looking at the guys which type of show it is.

Being a natural sucks

The effects of supraphysiologic doses of testosterone on muscle size and strength in normal men.

Bhasin S, Storer TW, Berman N, Callegari C, Clevenger B, Phillips J, Bunnell TJ, Tricker R, Shirazi A, Casaburi R.

Department of Medicine, Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, Los Angeles, CA 90059, USA.

BACKGROUND: Athletes often take androgenic steroids in an attempt to increase their strength. The efficacy of these substances for this purpose is unsubstantiated, however. METHODS: We randomly assigned 43 normal men to one of four groups: placebo with no exercise; testosterone with no exercise; placebo plus exercise; and testosterone plus exercise. The men received injections of 600 mg of testosterone enanthate or placebo weekly for 10 weeks. The men in the exercise groups performed standardized weight-lifting exercises three times weekly. Before and after the treatment period, fat-free mass was determined by underwater weighing, muscle size was measured by magnetic resonance imaging, and the strength of the arms and legs was assessed by bench-press and squatting exercises, respectively. RESULTS: Among the men in the no-exercise groups, those given testosterone had greater increases than those given placebo in muscle size in their arms (mean [+/-SE] change in triceps area, 424 +/- 104 vs. -81 +/- 109 square millimeters; P < 0.05) and legs (change in quadriceps area, 607 +/- 123 vs. -131 +/- 111 square millimeters; P < 0.05) and greater increases in strength in the bench-press (9 +/- 4 vs. -1 +/- 1 kg, P < 0.05) and squatting exercises (16 +/- 4 vs. 3 +/- 1 kg, P < 0.05). The men assigned to testosterone and exercise had greater increases in fat-free mass (6.1 +/- 0.6 kg) and muscle size (triceps area, 501 +/- 104 square millimeters; quadriceps area, 1174 +/- 91 square millimeters) than those assigned to either no-exercise group, and greater increases in muscle strength (bench-press strength, 22 +/- 2 kg; squatting-exercise capacity, 38 +/- 4 kg) than either no-exercise group. Neither mood nor behavior was altered in any group. CONCLUSIONS: Supraphysiologic doses of testosterone, especially when combined with strength training, increase fat-free mass and muscle size and strength in normal men.

Take the doses as seen in the study above and increase them to what many are taking then stand back and watch.
