sodium depletion

I've read that sodium depletion is one of the main ways to obtain muscle hardness b/c it sucks the water out from under the skin.

Does anyone know how to do this? Do you sodium load first? How long? How much? How low do you need to bring your sodium level? down to zero? It seems like nearly every food has some sodium in it, so it looks like this would be really hard.

Looking for a good sodium depletion plan.

Thanks.

Why do you want to do that? Planning to go to a bodybuilding contest?

Sodium depletion is not what you should do on regular basis!

only for contest/photo shoot!
not for real life...!

A basic way, starting 7 days out...

During the first five days, add salt to every(!) meal... During the day, make sure you drink a lot (and no, 3litres is not enough). I'm talking about 1l/10kg body weight. So 7l should be a minimum.

Then, day 6, NO salt anymore, and water intake back to 1l or less!
Also use low-sodium water. (<6mg/l)

Day 7, day before, NO salt, not even in your food. So NO tuna, or any fish for that matter. Water below 0,5l.

That would make you pretty water depleted.

It's a very rough way, but for a non-competitive bb'er, whose doing it for whatever reason, it should be enough and within healthy range.
