IMO there is no need for a overhead pressing movement. Dips, when done correctly, train all 3 heads of the deltoid sufficiently. Many upper-body muscles work to stabilize the position.
well, I don't have that problem. The ceiling in my training room is like 4 m high... but the room is rather small ;-)

You should try to begin the concentric movement by pulling your shoulders back and down first and then bending the arms. That way you make sure you use your lats and not just your arms to pull...
I am sick of downing 4000-4500 kcal each day, just to keep my BW constant....
you mentioned chest dips in your routine before. I am still working on my technique.
Are you paying any attention to keeping your shoulders back/chest out during the movement?
Use the advanced search feature and search for HST Cluster (titles only search). There aren't that many results. There is a post by Bryan about that topic. I think he said essentially progression is...
how much weight are you adding when you do your weighted dips and what would be your 5 RM? Dips with 240 lbs BW is already tough I guess.
Also, what form are you...
I am not a huge fan of isolation exercises. I focused my training recently on just Squats, Dips, Chin-ups/Rows and sometimes Shrugs. Progress on these basic exercises. Keep it simple. You don't need...

Blade, I have one last question:
What's your view on HST Cluster training? Especially at the end of the cycle where cluster size is around 1-2 reps. The whole point of these small clusters being...

Blade, in terms of myo-reps: how do these make use of metabolic and mechanic pathways? Mechanic pathways (high load, stretch) provide the most growth stimulus, metabolic a little.

I am still trying to figure out what I am doing wrong in performing dips because it does not feel like the chest muscles are working a lot during my dips.

thanks for the feedback.
There is one thing I want to ask: it is advised to keep the shoulders back and tight, chest out and to squeeze chest muscles.
In theory it sounds good but I have problems...

yes. I noticed it was pretty tough on the shoulders, I was sore from the workout. I never felt any soreness after doing shoulder presses or isolation movements.

... according to a guy at the german bodybuilding forum team andro.
He seems like a knowledgeable person (wrote > 10,000 posts) and only includes chest dips in his routine. No bench. He thinks bench...
I want to include dips in my routine (instead of Bench).
Since I bulked quite a few pounds over the last weeks my 5RPM for dips is BW + 10 lbs plate.
How can I implement the...

I have been training calves at the end of my HST workouts, 3x week, 20-30 reps, using progression etc. Mine are ridiculous, just got some minor size gains. It just is not impressive to have...
ok, makes sense. Thx
I have been bulking the last 4-5 weeks now, 4500-5000 kcal a day. Could break out of the range 190-195 lbs of the last few years. Was at 210 lbs @6 2". Then someting weird happened. I...
Ok, thanks again. Your posts in this forum help a lot.
Thanks, Totentanz. I appreciate your input.
One final question:
What did the Chest workout look like in the full body workouts you did until you got to 220 lbs?
Bench press 3x week, 5 sets per...
