Glutamine

I was told at my gym that a good supplement to take for maintaining muscle mass is glutamine. Is this true? Do a lot of you take it?

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Glutamine as a dietary supplement is not a good buy. I've written a few articles on it. Several studies have looked at it, and none (including my articles) have been able to show any benefit other than to the gastrointestinal tract.
 
Seems like Lyle is "on the fence" regarding benefit. There is a study regarding HGH increases after 2g Glutamine. Does it aid in fat loss? Who knows. Regarding strength/hypertrophy increases? Probably worthless.
