Fascinating... confuses me though when they use rats in these studies (and I don't mean from an ethical point of view). I mean, surely it would make more sense to use humans seeing as though it applies to them, and it seems safe enough, unless it's a money thing? Although I'm sure many would love to jump into that without getting paid, I'd give it a crack [emoji14]

I have attempted BFR training with tight wraps before, tis brutal haha..

I believe that rats were used because of the way the muscles were stimulated. Even the rats were anesthetized.

Is that part in the gray area saying....

A) Submax with BFR beat maximal without BFR?
or
B) Submax with BFR beat submax sithout BFR?

If it's B, then no duh, of course, if it's A, then hmmmmm fascinating

Well there are some benefits to BFR that even submax can't offer, but I don't think it is a "always better than" type situation. I'm not very versed in it myself (it makes my wife uncomfortable to see me with tourniquets on ) but the pump you get is pretty hard to reproduce without using BFR and you can train at like 20% of your 1rm which can be game changers for lifters who have joint/tendon issues or just don't want the fatigue/wear and tear of the heavier lifts.
