Alternate Grips

I guess this is a question for someone with more of a kinesiology focus: I was wondering about the effect of alternate grips, particularly on the pullup.
Referencing the "normal" grip (if your hands were fully pronated or supinated you would be grabbing it), there is a grip that forms a 90 degree angle with the "normal" grip in the horizontal plane. Does anyone know if this effects the secondary movers, or does it really make much difference? I guess it would likely be the same as the difference between hammer curls and supinated curls, but I do not know the particular difference between those either. Thanks in advance.
