N.O.xplode

I tried N.O.xplode today, it is the latest rage with the bodybuilders around here.  You are supposed to take it before your workout and it supposedly increases blood flow, gives incredible pumps and stimulates the nervous system.

It has a ton of different ingredients, the most potent ones being L-arginine AKG, creatine ethyl ester malate, L-tyrosine, taurine, methylxanthine (caffeine).

I only took one scoop (they recommend up to 3) and I got an incredible rush for awhile.  My friend claims he gets ridiculous pumps and increases his endurance and intensity when lifting.

Whatever it is, this stuff definitely seems to work (creatine and caffeine are proven to be potent anyway).  I will take it before tomorrow's workout and let you guys know.

There is alot of warnings on the container, I am surprised this stuff is legal.  I liked it better than ephedrine.

The L-arginine AKG is what gives increased blood flow and the intense pump. It works for that and is probably why it is so popular lately. They are selling this sh*t for $65 at GNC....ridiculous. I got it online for $25.

I know creatine is beneficial, all the phosphates and vitamins are cool, the caffeine is a stimulant, so I like this product.
Even if the increased pump and energy doesn't really do that much, it gets me psyched for training and is worth $25/month to me.

I would recommend this product, but it is no miracle, so shop around and don't overpay at Supplement Ripoff...err...GNC. I will never shop there again now that I see how badly they price-gouge on the popular products.

Interesting. The first time I read about these nitric oxide release products my first thought was "isn't that how viagra is supposed to work?" Sure enough, you will note that some of the ads make a side allusion to such effects. I can't help but wonder if this is part of what makes them so popular.

The stimulants I can see pumping you up.  Arginine is part of the nitric oxide pathway, but I thought that supplementation had been shown to pretty much be a bust.  Been a while since I looked at this and don't remember all my sources, though. But whatever it is that makes it work for you, all that matters is if it does work for you.

SCI,

I used that stuff for a while, it did give me incredible pumps and intense concentration during training. However the effects seemed to wear off after about 2 weeks. I Still have half a tub of it left and don't use it anymore as it actually makes me feel sick when I take it now. I used it the other day (1 and half scoops) and the headaches I get from it are not worth while. Maybe I just don't react well too it for some reason... Anyway like I said, I loved it while it worked but not anymore.

Well, this stuff definitely works. I was very energized the whole workout and my lower back was so pumped during deadlifts that it felt like too balloons running down my spine. The mind-muscle connection was increased and it was much easier for me to keep good form.
It could be partly placebo effect, but I doubt it, I am a born skeptic when it comes to supplements. Of course the caffeine definitely plays a role. Mainly I just like how they combined ingredients into a powerful pre-workout energizer. Caffeine for concentration/energy, arginine for blood-flow, creatine for muscle volumization and increased ATP storage. Plus a ton of other stuff that is probably benefical, but I am not much into the science of supplementation. The guy who invented this stuff put a ton of hard work into it and I am overall very pleased with this product.
I have never enjoyed a supplement like this. Most I have tried did nothing, and I don't usually bother with supplements at all except for some protein powders and mulitvitamins.

Regarding the effects wearing off after continued use....yes, I have heard that and BSN recommends taking breaks from it periodically.

jEver tried yohimbe? I find that doing anything every day will wear it out quickly; skip it when you feel good allready and save it for the "bad" days and the effects should last a lot longer. I don't do NO2 due to some negative feedback on hearts. I can't go back there again.

Smart quadancer, I wouldn't do it either if I were you.

I get the feeling the FDA will try to restrict this stuff soon.  It seems as if they don't want any supplements sold over-the-counter that actually WORK.  Everytime something comes out that is effective, they try to restrict it...more money for pharmacuetical companies and doctors.

The only weird part about the NO2 is the pump doesn't go away for hours, it is weird having your muscles pumped up while at rest...oh yeah and the increased bloodflow works on the 'little guy' also.  It doesn't increase sex drive, just increases blood flow if you need it there.  It is not like viagra or anything, it doesn't give you erections, just enhances it.

I can see how this stuff is possibly dangerous to people with blood pressure/heart problems.  Most things that WORK have side effects.  Just for the record I am not juicing yet either, another delay...don't want to discuss it for obvious reasons.

Why would you need to take this stuff on none training days like the lable says other than you just need to buy more? To keep the creatine levels up?

For the mind\muscle connection I use to really like Biotest Power Drive. I didn;t have any caffeine in it which was great since I can't handle a lot of caffeine.

Went through a bottle/tub of this stuff and like you said, was amazing. I compared it with adderol (sp?) for the gym. The first few weeks I would get absolutely huge pumps when working out arms especially. Even if it led to no direct muscle growth, it certainly did indirectly by making me focus and push harder. However, after about a month these were almost diminished to nothing.

Hope you keep the effects longer... I couldn't handle the extra scoops in an effort to keep them because they dilated my blood vessels so much that my blood pressure fell to hell making me feel like passing out.

The effects wear off, that seems like a universal problem.

So I will use it sparingly, only on workout days and eventually I may cycle it for the heavy part of the HST cycle only, or only on days were I need a 'pick up'.

For an even better pump and preworkout drink try Full Blown Extreme by Max Muscle.  I would say 5 times better than NO Xplode.

With Full Blown you take only one scoop and the effects are incredible.  I switched to NO Xplode after taking Full Blown for a couple of cycles but I needed to take 3 scoops to get almost similar results and I noticed that the effects wore off very quickly after a couple of weeks.  The best part about Full Blown is after 6 weeks I felt the same way taking the one scoop.

Hey Sci,

My friend bought a tub of this after it was recommended to him, I haven't tried it myself but I did some internet research for him, most of the stuff I found was pretty negative...including some quite worrying stuff about the effects on general health.

Did find some positive reviews as well mind. In anycase I advised my friend against it because at the moment he doesn't even go to the gym regularly (!) - classic case of wanting to from doing nothing to being an advanced bodybuilder and missing out all the necessary steps in between.

You're obviously in a different position and probably know more about supplements than me but you might want to have a look around the net just to see what you think of the points that have been raised (unless you already have!).

Cheers

Rob

Actually once I finish this container, I won't be using at anymore. TOO MUCH CAFFEINE! I am wired for hours after the workout...no good. From now on I will simply take carbs and maybe a small amount of caffeine before a workout.

the stuff has some positive effects, but the negatives far out weigh them. i developed chest pains from it and got an ekg to check it out. the doc said my heart was ok, but my bp was way high (and it never was previosuly). do a google search for "no xplode heart attack" and you will never touch the stuff again.
