New to Protein

So I'm thinking about adding supplements to my exercise program for the first time ever. I think it's fairly obvious that I should start with protein.

Is it better for me to start with a slightly cheaper protein and get more quantity, or should I go for a high quality protein but less quantity?

Basically I'm trying to decide between
Optimum Nutrition - 100% Whey Gold Standard Natural Vanilla, 5lbs for $25
-or-
ISS Research Pro M3 Vanilla - 2.2lbs for $27

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the difference is between their Whey Gold Standard Natural and their regular Whey Gold Standard products?

Also, taste is probably 60% of my consideration. I'll skimp on taste if something's effective and cheap or just extra-effective or extra-cheap. If anyone has any opinions about these as far as that's concerned, please let me know.

Thanks!

I use the optimum nutrition products. I think they taste good and the price is right. I use whey before and after workouts and casein all other times. I order them DPS nutrition. I mix with milk and milled flaxseed.
