Top Ten Fave Exercises

I made a poll a while back concerning favorite exercises, and not surprisingly the deadlift was hailed victor by a long shot.

I would like to see better results of what the #2, #3, #4... favorite exercises are and so forth.

This survey is pretty easy... just list your top ten favorite WEIGHT LIFTING exercises. You can be as detailed as you want about the exercise such as: SLDL's, Pendlay Rows, Incline DB Curls instead of Deadlift, Rows, Curls.

I'll give 10 points to the #1 answer and 1 point to the #10 answer. I'll update the results fairly often. You may vote every three months if you wish.

Now, I'll get to flex my statistical muscles!!

Here's my list. It looks like I'm keeping with the majority when I put deadlifts as number one but it's followed very closely by an exercise I just recently started doing, hang cleans.

1. Deadlifts
2. Hang Cleans

4. Chins/Pullups (overhand or underhand)
5. Push Press
6. Incline BB Bench Press
7. Front Squat
8. Close Grip Bench
9. Incline DB Curl
10. Overhead Squat

I don't actually do the overhead squats right now but I'm always impressed by people who can. I added it to the list as more of an honorary mention.

1. Back squat
2. Power clean
3. Deadlift
4. Press (overhead, BB or DB)
5. Pullup
6. DB row
7. Front squat

10. Flat Bench

What do you mean "favorite"?
Choice of best and most useful exersizes, what you do the most, or just what you like to do the most?
That would be three different lists for me.

BTW, that's "poll", not "pole". What college was that you attend?

I am looking for the exercises people like to do the most which usually correlates to useful ones.

In that case, in order of my preferred exersizes by a combination of usefulness and enjoyment:
1.) Pendlay Rows
2.) Deads
3.) Skullz
4.) Shrugs
5.) Dips
6.) Squats
7.) Pullups
8.) T-bar rows
9.) Cambered Bar Curls
10.) Sex (should I have put this one first? Age, I guess)

1) Preacher Curls
2) Cable curls
3) Hammer curls
4) Concentration curls
5......

Ummm I don't think I even have 10. I dont think I even like them either, squats scare the hell out of me.

1) Squats
2) Weighted dips
3) weighted chins
4) military press

If I only polled what I LIKE, it would go:
1.) Pendlay's
2.) Skulls or close grip
3.) Sex
Like a lotta guys, I really dislike working out...unless of course, it's one of those really energetic days full of endorphins. Who really likes doing legs anyway?

The results so far are exactly what I was looking for. Deadlifts are #1, but their lead on the rest of the pack isn't a huge one.

I wrote the initial post pretty quick, but I am glad no one put down any sports or running down as their favorite exercises. Everyone knew what I meant by listing their favorite weightlifting exercises!

I have two lists here. The first one is a general exercise list. Some categories such as squats and clean & snatch got some extra votes due to the variations of the exercises.

Exercise Groups
1) Deadlifts - 114
2) Squats - 101
3) Clean & snatch - 76
3) Dips - 76
5) Chins/Pullups - 71
6) Rows - 63
7) Chest Press - 58
8) Shoulder Press - 43
9) Shrugs & pulls - 35
10) Tricep Iso's - 26
11) Curls - 11
12) Other (sled drag) - 3

Top Ten Individual Rankings
1) Deadlift - 113
2) Dips - 76
3) Chins/Pullups - 71
4) Bench Press - 48
5) Squat - 44
6) Back Squat - 32
7) Pendlay Row - 28
8) Front Squat - 24
8) Shrugs - 24
10) Rows - 23

Other exercises that got 15 or more points were OH Press, Military Press, Power Clean, and Push Press.

Some ideas regarding the variations of exercises...

1) I could leave them as is
2) Take the #1 variation in each person's list and not count the others
3) Split the points in half
