I workout at home usually at night (around 7:30). I usually eat dinner around 6

0 - 6:30. I have a light protein shake 10-125 minutes before workout. Then afterwards I have a larger protein shake.

My question(s) - should I be having the larger shake before workout and the small one after?

Also, in one of the articles on this site I saw where it was recommended to some to have a shake 10-15 minutes before working out (which i do) and another after or even 10-15 minutes before your workout is over.

What do you guys do and why?

pre workout (30-0 minutes before)

complex carbs +/- 1/3 g per kg body weight
fast acting protein (whey) 1/3 g per kg body weight

during workout - if needed, drink some carb drink such as gatorade but 20-30g of carbs should bring you trough a 60 minute workout

post workout (immediatly)

dextrose around 0.7-1g per kg bodyweight
slower acting protein or miscellar 1/3 g per kg body weight

60-90 minutes later the same amount of carbs / protein again...

some report benefits of replacing the dextrose with complex carbs...but I dont believe in any major differences
