    Russian Hst?

In Jan 2021, still reading this thread. Just because other sites and social media are posting more and have more activity says nothing of the level of truth of the info presented. HST is correct on just about all the aspects of hypertrophy training, nothing else to say. The rest of the "new...

Is The "box Car" Analogy True?

    Thanks Bryan! Much appreciated.

Is The "box Car" Analogy True?

Question mainly for Byran, but would like feedback from anyone that knows the actual science. Does hitting a muscle at multiple angles contribute to more growth? Specifically, does the "box car" analogy of sarcomers contracting along different sections of a muscle belly be innervated at...

The Other Side Of The Equation

Thanks NW, interesting. This does support lower frequency for maintenance and "just good" results.

The Other Side Of The Equation

8 months of no training and minimal loss? Do the horses keep you fairly active each day? I was raised on a farm in the country. There is always work to do :)

    Off-topic - Trump

It is truly tragic to see what has become of the US government. I voted for Trump because he is the least worst pick from Billary and a dope smoking independent. Trump would never have won if he had just a normal candidate running against him. For those friends abroad, FYI, it is true that...

The Other Side Of The Equation

Thanks O&G for posting. Makes sense that recreational folks have more trained legs than upper bodies. And we know from much research and experience that recovery goes faster the more trained one is. The question I still ask, and have yet to get any conclusive answer to from any source: How long...

    Recovery Time

Simon, If you are 31 and this in to your training, that is a very good life habit that will give you great returns as you get older. Keep it up, don't quit! It would be great if Bryan or Borge could weigh in here, but O&G is here to help us not get too far off course ;) That is correct...

    Recovery Time

Simon, MPS is only part of the story. Marathon runners take months to recover from a race due to extreme damage. When training for hypertrophy, much of the new research is showing that all elevated MPS is doing is getting you back to baseline. IOW, it has very little to do with actually putting...

    Recovery Time

IMHO, the absolute earliest you can train again is not the best question to ask. The best question is, after recovery is complete, how long does one keep said gains before they start to deteriorate? Those 2 values are not the same. And the latter is the one that matters most in the long run...

    Frequency Is Your Friend

One thing I noticed is that even 36 hours post exercise (as long as the solid blue line goes out) MPS is still 20% above baseline. The muscle is not done fully adapting at this time. In addition, once it goes back to homeostasis, how long before MPS actually drops? That is the key to...

More Support For Myo And Effective Reps

IIRC, max speed to see optimum cross bridges was 2 seconds for a normal ROM exercise. After 4 or 5 seconds the results dropped off. So a cadence of 2 up, 2 or 3 down is about right.

This Is Why Myo Reps Work

yes O&G, to me a myo rep / rest pause of 5 reps plus 5 more singles will get 10 effective reps with minimal time and volume, ie zero junk volume. regarding speed, the slower the rep, the more cross bridges that form. Schoenfeld et al showed that anything faster than 2 seconds did not cause near...
