Quality Of Reps Vs. What We Know About Training Effect

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26700744 From that abstract: "... The increased activity did not occur at the expense of decreased activity of the other muscle, e.g. when focusing on activating the triceps muscle the activity of the pectoralis muscle did not decrease. On the contrary...

    Wow, What Happened?..

Muscle building is still popular, Ron. It is the forums that aren't popular. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter usage has stolen previous forum traffic from most sites. Bryan is still around but isn't very active anywhere. The more popular guys doing good research these days are guys like Jacob...

Looking for advice on my routine (coming back from sciatica injury)

The best quad exercise I've found to work around back issues are Bulgarian split squats with a dumbell. Here is a video example: Good luck!

    California Barbell

A guy named Buddy Capps invented bars in Texas that he called Texas Bar Powers. (He had a deadlift and a squat bar, too.) They were/are basically just bars designed to handle a very high load. Maybe California Barbell is something similar? I've never heard of them, though.

    am/pm spilts

My best results from training twice per day came when I used 2 different workouts 3 days per week. I'd train the whole body both workouts, but with different exercises. Maybe bench presses for chest in the AM and dips in the PM. Wide grip pulldowns for lats one workout, close grip chins the...

    wieght progression - cutting cycle

Increasing your weights just like you would if you were bulking gives you the best chance of maintaining the maximum lean body mass while cutting. Chances are you will lose a bit of muscle with the fat, but maximizing the load you can handle at least gives you a fighting chance to maintain it.

doing 15 reps is good for cutting??  Please help..

Higher reps are not good for cutting ... lower calories are good for cutting. The myth about higher reps "cutting you up" is just that ... a myth.

    HST Challenged by HIT

I've been trying to resist posting this relatively childish response, but apparently I can't help myself. Bryan Haycock and Drew Baye apparently both actively train according to their respective beliefs. Bryan is roughly 220-225 lbs, while Drew is maybe 160-165 lbs. Neither has a very high...

    Hammer Strength machines

Hammer Strength machines were originated by Gary Jones, the son of Nautilus inventor Arthur Jones. They are very well made and offer a very nice full range resistance. You could easily design a full routine using them and do just fine. Of course you could grow from lifting bags of rocks if you...

Suggestions needed for an abbreviated 3 week cycle

Michel, I have had some success with 4 week cycles: 1 week of 15s 1 week of 10s 1 week of 5s and 1 week of more advanced stuff (negatives, drop sets, partials, etc.) 3 weeks seems a little too short to fit everything in for me, but I can work 4 successfully. Good luck!

    Bigger bi's...

Touching the chest definitely gives more contraction in the lats, but I actually think the stretched part of the motion is more important for growth. I don't know if this would feel the same for everyone, but from the fully stretched position I like to feel my shoulder blades pull together first...
