Is The "box Car" Analogy True?

Awesome, very insightful. @Bryan Haycock would you say in order to maximise the stimulus of training different angles, that you should: a) Train both exercises in the same session (eg couple sets of pushdowns + overhead extensions) b) Train both exercises on separate days, alternating...

It's insane huh.... has affected everything. I'm lucky that I've always hometrained and had my own equipment. But have never lived through anything as widespread as this.. All nonessential places have closed here in Aus, I feel a full lockdown is coming soon... Stay safe brother

    The Skinny On Zig Zag

Hey, anyone know of any studies that show how long it takes for the muscle to adapt to a single unchanging load? I swear it was something like 2-3 weeks before full adaption and the diminishing returns are fully setting in.. Could be useful to reference regarding zigzag questions! @NWlifter ?

    The Skinny On Zig Zag

Ah nice, I just did the first day of 10s too, we're in sync ;) I've experimented with having zigzag and not having zigzag, and honestly I think it's not worth worrying about. A little drop like that is good for recovery I reckon, but somehow my weights aren't zigzagging anyway like they used...

    Holiday Blast

Nice man :) You gonna do 1 week each of 15s, 10s and 5s? That could be really cool, an intense super fast progression

    Skerr's Training Log

Welcome to the forum Skerr! Great to have a new member on board :) HST is awesome, routine looks great! I personally probably wouldn't have two exercises per body part (eg rows and chins), for higher frequency I like having just the one (unless you're specifically specialising and wanting to up...

Disrupting The Loading Effect In Hst

Hello! I would think the volume you're doing for the single (like, 1 rep) wouldn't be enough to disrupt the HST cycle. If you were to do a large volume with that weight then maybe, but I can't see an issue. Just a thought, not really certain! But a great question, and I've always pondered...

    _tim's Log

Good onya for entering mate, sometimes it's just a great exercise in challenging yourself like that. And sounds like you competed with integrity and knowing that you wanted to do it the proper way. Something to be proud of in that. Awesome work :)

    Rest-pause Instead Of Normal Sets...

Yeah decided to call the cycle. Coming up to a week and a half SD so may as well. Got far enough into and gained back alot of weight that I'd lost while sick on and off the last few months. Gonna move into a bit of a fun mixed cycle, more intuitive and just trying out exercises and different...

    Rest-pause Instead Of Normal Sets...

Ah yep for sure will take that on board. Oh and just to clear it up by SI I mean sacroiliac joint (lowerback/hip), not shoulder impingement hehe. But will still keep it in mind, cheers mate :)

    Rest-pause Instead Of Normal Sets...

Ah yeah, I'm not so much concerned about the SI joint, as that was never really overly affected with training (I wasn't doing the 5s with leg exercises), but whether it's really worth going back to 5s after the break, as I've gotten a semi-SD anyway from the layoff. But you know me getting sick...

    Rest-pause Instead Of Normal Sets...

SI joint has been really good and things feel like they're finally healing up! Was at the very tail end of the 5s and all was going well, then fell really unwell (chest infection or something) and haven't trained for a week now. Unsure whether to just call the cycle and do an unplanned SD, or...

You Don't Need A Caloric Surplus To Build Muscle

Awesome, love it :). It is a fascinating topic... and yeah it is possible there is a certain ceiling for just relying on protein like @mikeynov said. But really cool food for thought, a good reminder as protein is the one thing that I struggle to get enough of and can easily find ways to...

    2016 Log

Yeah I've been doing neutral grip chins this cycle, I've found them a bit odd, and I actually thought they were a stronger movement than supinated chins but the weights I'm using are much lower than what I reached for supinated grip.. Odd about the anterior delt! Is it like a pinching feeling...
