    OT: So, how is everybody?

Yep, I got the book over Christmas, but I haven't done much but glance it over. For a while, I got out of reading about exercise phys and more into nerding (videogames) and reading school related stuff (e.g. evolutionary biology). However, I'll be starting to read through that in the short...

    OT: So, how is everybody?

Going reasonably well. After tinkering around using various principles I like (largely from Westside with a touch of abbreviated philosophy ala Dinosaur Training and Mcrobert's stuff), I've largely settled on a routine that looks something like this: ME = Max Effort - working up to triples...

    LyleMcD on loaded stretching

If mechanical strain is the fundamental cause of hypertrophy (it is), and if loaded stretching induces mechanical strain capable of inducing hypertrophy (I don't see why it couldn't), then I'd have to disagree.

Mr. Haycock please make an SST plan!

Just make sure that SST includes some formalized way of addressing technique and/or weak points. These are hugely critical factors that can be pretty hard to codify. I attribute WST's success in part to an attempt to do just that.

Why did I grow from HIT?

Just as a thought, don't think of training paradigms like religion. Examine the evidence for yourself and collect what principles you feel actually pertain to reality, then apply that to your training. Particular protocols can give you a feel for implementing specifics of these principles (e.g...

Why did I grow from HIT?

Simple version: you lifted heavier stuff. Slightly more complicated: your muscle tissue was exposed to a greater degree of tension over time due to your strength gains. Really complicated: Read anything by Bryan, Blade, Jules or Dan. And even a little me back when I was more active.

    OT: So, how is everybody?

Long time no hello, so I figured I'd give you peeps a shout-out. I just realized that we've been on this board for ~3 years now. I still remember going to the HST forum on thinkmuscle, discussing various aspects of this pre HST-site days. Kind of blows my mind to realize the passage of time...

    Cardio and EPOC

First off, definitely natural - I've never used anabolics in my life, and am not planning on doing it any time soon. Also bear in mind that my own estimate of bodyfat is just that - my own estimate, not measured. Where exactly in the teens it was before is hard to know for sure, and I dont'...

    Cardio and EPOC

Not really, no. Last summer I did it perfectly. I included negatives in chins/dips for ~a month to 6 weeks or something while I was doing it, and used a CKD in which I carbed up on assloads of quality carbs every weekend, and kept my protein intake very high during the week with very low carbs...

    Cardio and EPOC

I've gotten lean as hell using exclusively HIIT on an exercise bike combined with my normal HST training. Also, a reasonable article written by a guy I used to correspond with on the benefits of HIIT.

    1000lb bench

No offense, but the HST board has always been about open communication. If people want to talk about the merits of belly benching or that paritcular lift, I don't think it's our place to tell them that they can't.

    Muscle Growth Flowchart

Wow, this thread is dynamite good. It should be a sticky imho. Glad to see you've also earned your wings with the 'HST Expert' distinction. This is very well earned, in my esitmation :)
