Hi to everyone, and a big thanks to Bryan for all the superb work.

Being a new lifter, I'm a little paranoid about the gains I've been making, specifically about how sleep may affect it.

Are there any studies that show how much catabolism actually occurs? Is oversleeping bad, anabolic-wise?

If someone is fasting (eg, sleeping > 8 hrs) when does wasting actually begin? (after 4 hrs?)

TIA

Don't worry about it. Just go to bed with some food in your stomach and eat something when you wake up. If you are eating a calorie excess during the day, then the period of no eating while you sleep will not cause you to waste away.

Stop worrying about it, those guys who carry on as if that is the secret to body beautiful are talking B.S., and from the last I seen that is indigestible, godd for pot plants though, very good!

Thanks Totentanz, Fausto and Dr. Pierre! You've really put my mind at ease.
Looking forward to guilt-free sleep.

All the best to everyone.

For a little more reassurance, I just read an article about sleep. In deep sleep, metabolism slows way down, allowing the body to perform tissue repair -- good for hypertrophy! Also, growth hormone secretion peaks during deepest stages of sleep -- good for hypertpophy! Just eat some protein and good fat before bed.

As I understand it, Cottage Cheese (CC) is casein protein, takes about all night to digest, so I found out what I like in it to make it palatable (shredded pineapple, mostly) and sleep guilt free. Now if I could just sleep nonstop all night...
