aspirations to compete?

does anyone have any intentions of competing?naturally or otherwise.its just something i havent heard alot of.

we seem to have our good share of physiques so who's up for it?

Maybe when I hit a 550 lb deadlift, I might go enter into a local lifting meet for fun, but I doubt I'd ever go into bodybuilding... I don't like posing in front of people.

its never really interested me either, stage fright maybe lol.

but its interesting to see how far people on here want to take their training,as ive also noted you dont have to be huge to compete naturally, which i believe many of our members are, rather its the dedication and dieting that can determine a winner, instead of size alone.

For me, even if I had the time and dedication, competing just goes a bit too much on the egotistical aspect of BBing for me to want it. OTOH, I enjoy being bigger than others, so maybe that's just a lesser version of the same thing.
Powerlifting, OTOH, has nothing to do with looks, and being better at performance seems to me to be more worthy from a competitive aspect.
The difference between being pretty or being strong.

hey maybe we can have both lol.
i have to say i like to look good/big which is a vanity issue i guess.but dont like too much attention as im easily embarressed.

i think people often look for symmetry in a person(more so in a partner perhaps) to identify a good genetic make-up,and bb allows one to show this symmetry to a greater extent..a little deep for this hour but,i heard this on the discovery channel

I come in on the other side of that equation. I'm tired of always being smaller than others.

I'm already pretty, but at 5' 2" and 140 lbs, I need to be strong...

your low centre of gravity should give you plenty of scope for strength.

Especially on bench press!

I actaully have plans to compete this november in a local pw contest at a nearby college. With my numbers, I'm sure I could place, but my buttock injury has kept me from deadlifting for awhile. I'll reassess once august comes.

I have been thinking about local olympic lifting meets if I ever start moving respectable poundages. I need a lot more technique work before I even consider entering though.

Been there...done that (in my twenties) as far as bodybuilding competition is concerned.

Now at 46 my motivation is trying to look my best...and making others my age embarrassed at their poor condition....
