Back pain

Hey guys,
I'm finishing my first week of 5 rep maxes. I've been haveing back problems on and off for about 4 years (compressed S2 disc).
The back pain is getting worse and I wonder if I should SD now or not. If I do, should I do anything different at the next cycle regarding how many weeks are spent on a specific rep range?

If it's soreness, keep 'em rollin'.

If it's the kind of pain you recognize as being related to your injury, take a break and let it heal. I get SI pain sometimes and have to take a week or two off. Once a month.

On return, the weights are more effective than they were before.
 
A week, maybe even two. You'll SD from it and be able to make progress with the lighter weights without overloading your body with the heavy stuff that is hurting you.

As you acclimate to the frequency and progressive loading, there is a chance that the injury problem will surface less and less.

That's one great thing about HST, it's easy on the joints.
