1) Running
2) Cycling
3) Leg Press
4) Leg Extensions

How are you squatting?

I ask because when I used to parallel squat I experienced much more strain on my knees than I do now squatting more deeply. One immediate plus is that you can't use as much weight when you go deeper so your form should improve too. Unless you have other issues with your knees this should help wit squatting.

If your knees are sore now let them have a bit of a break to heal up before starting on deeper squats or an alternative exercise, should you decide on that.

Rest you knees two weeks if you havent already. Do as many BW squat reps as necessary until hit the lactic acid threshold. Repeat until knee pain goes away during squats, then slowly increase weight.

thanks for the input guys

i experience knee pain when I used a smith machine to assist my squatting..seems to hit my knees in a bad way

Well there is your answer. The smith machine is known to destroy people when not used properly, and to use it properly requires you to squat differently than free weight squat.

Try using a rack and squatting that way, after resting your knees a little while, and see if it feels better. As long as you let your knees heal first, I bet it will feel a lot better.

thanks tot...i stopped using the smith..it sucks bigtime!

Smith Machine = Overrated

To think that I once did my SLDL's and Squats on it all the time a year ago.
