Bench Shirt

Anyone have any good links or tips on how to best utilize a bench shirt? I've come into ownership of a couple and want to learn how to use them properly.

What about modifying the shirt? I hear a lot of people cut the back of the shirt... anyone have anything good about this?

I'm pretty sure there are some useful vids on how to train with a bench shirt on the Metal Militia site.

I borrowed a couple of MM DVDs from a mate at my old gym a few years ago, one of which had a fair bit of info on bench training for a meet including the use of a shirt.

I don't know if I can even fit into these things. The guy who gave them to me is about my size, but the one shirt I managed to get on, I couldn't even come close to getting the bar down to my chest. I might just sell them on ebay or something. I'll try out the other one on Tuesday and see how it works out.

Thanks for the link though. I'll check it out right now.

I think that's what happens when the loads are light; you actually have to pull the bar down to your chest! If you can do this safely in a rack, why not try adding extra load to the bar in increments of ~10lb until you feel less like you're having to pull the bar down to your chest. 300lb would be good to try but watch your wrists.

They are both Inzer shirts. The tag on one says EHP H.D. Blast shirt, I think. Hard to read because there is marker over it. The other one also says H.D Blast shirt. I'm guessing these are probably on the low end of bench shirts, seeing as how the guy just gave them to me. But free is free.

I don't know what size the first one is, but that is the one I put on and couldn't hardly even get halfway down with. I'm assuming they are supposed to leave deep marks in your armpit area when you take them off, but I can't see how I could get this one to touch without, like, the shirt cutting off my arms or something. haha
The other one is a size 50.

ok, they are old gear, and if you dont have a partner around to squeeze you into them, then there is not much hope to get into it. I could squeeze into a 52 EHPHD while weighing around 245 or so. But it was not fun.

My current EHPHD now has a cut back with a stretchy panel put in. I also have nylon sleeves to get it on. I can get it on by myself with these at 242, but its excessively tight.

What does the sizing mean? I'm currently only about 200 lbs, and the bigger shirt is a size 50...

I wonder if I can sell these and get anything for them?
