I am super pumped about this!

Meet The Featherweights – Faber vs Farrar headlines WEC Premiere on VERSUS

For all you MMA fans who haven't heard about this yet, the WEC (World Extreme Cagefighting) will premiere on VERSUS TV on Sunday, June 3rd at 8PM ET with live fights from 9PM-11PM ET.

Zuffa LLC., the owners of the UFC, have purchased the WEC and have a TV contract with Versus TV (used to be OLN. They have a channel locator on their web site so you can see if it is available in your area). So we now have another channel to watch MMA on! These should be pretty exciting fights because they are really pushing the lighter weight classes. They even have Bantamweight (135 lb) and Featherweight (145 lb) classes. The Faber vs Farrar fight is a Featherweight championship fight.

Here are a couple links to check out.

sounds like some good stuff. I've actually seen Farrar wrestle and read that he trains w/ Dean Lister, of whom I'm a fan.

Also, I'd like to see Karalexis fight again too. I enjoyed his fights w/ Kenny Florian and Josh Rafferty on Spike....but I missed his fight w/ Von Flue.

co-main event is between Yahya and Hominick ...these guys train out of some good camps (Sam Stout's and Rickson Gracie's...)!

unfortunately for me, the channel is not avail in my area...

Also this weekend is K-1 show.

Brock Lesnar first MMA bout...and two legends fight for the final time with Royce Gracie and Sakuraba!

i feel in a few yrs the tv landscape is going to change.
mma/cage/ultimate fighting was very fringe when it started on ppv in the early 90s. i think it even got banned to a degree in the mid-late 90s. just a few yrs a go you couldnt find it anywhere on tv except maybe some odd hours PRIDE or K-1 stuff but even that was only 4-5 "fight nights" that just kept getting re-played.

once spike tv picked up the "TUF" reality series and some fight nights of there own things seem to have really changed. still not much prime time coverage but quite a bit is on late night, early evening etc. i really think ult. fighting is the next "friday night fights" etc. etc.

there is a lot of money to be made on marketing and showing ult fights on tv (big fights will still be ppv) and thats what really drives what gets put on. right now i still think there are folks who think its too bloody for prime time tv but that will change when they realize the $$$$ to be made.

it will be everywhere in 5 yrs, not as big as football (american) but bigger then hockey.

that k-1 card is shaky, of course excepting Gracie's shot at redemption.

What funny bluejacket is seeing the TUF noobs who just started watching the sport vs someone like myself who has followed it from the beginning.

The will see a guy like Forrest Griffen and think he is a legend already and not even know who Vitor Belfort,Randy Couture,Royce,Shamrock....etc is...hehe

last night's K-1 was outstanding. I was skeptical but really wanted to see Sakuraba...

I am so glad that I watched it. Gracie won the only decision of the night and Lesnar looked great w/ ground and pound. Would've been sweet if Lesnar had been matched w/ Mighty Moe!

Yoon's eye looked painful, he needed that fight to end when it did.

Rooting for the Chiefs makes me a Johnnie Morton fan...so him getting neckbraced and carted out...that was depressing. Glad he's suspended.

Overall great KO's and an exciting match. Really enjoyed All4One's rendition of the anthem (j/k).

Holy crap! Just watched Faber for the first time. He is a 145 lb animal! I can't wait to see his live title defense tonight!

I watched Brock lesnar...he has some improving to do...but very impressive for his first fight and he drops major ....major bombs!

These were some pretty good fights. Although there was one guy who was completely out classed (don't remember his name) and should never have been in the cage against the guy he was fighting. He obviously did not have enough experience yet.

The Faber fight was a pretty good grappling match.

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to more of the WEC!

I only caught a second of the news...but who was the guy who knocked out...or got knocked out by a pro boxer in the mma match?

Also...we have Kimbo Slice (famous street fighter-check you tube for "KIMBO" ) first sanctioned fight coming up real soon against and old pro boxer...that should be interesting?

A pro boxer on that WEC card? I'm not aware of one.

I think Kimbo is over rated. But hs should be fun to watch none the less.
