Can someone explain negatives to me

Just wanted to check, the negatived that Blade talked about are the same as that of negatives talked about by your average bodybuilder right? I really dont understand what he talked about about concentric and eccentric movements. Please help thanks.
 
Negatives are the negative portion (lengthening/Stretching of the muscle) of an rep.

Concentric = SHortening of the muscle
Eccentric = lengthening

BB Curl- The movement from the completely down (stretched position) to the chest is the concentric. The lowering back down is ecentric. ;)
