Dips

Just wondering, with so many people doing heavy dips (BW+100 and more)...how low are you taking them.  It seems that the deeper you take them past parallel, the harder they are on the shoulders.  Even at BW I can feel the pressure in the shoulders much more when I dip below parallel.  Is everyone going as low as possible, or are some taking these only to a certain point to avoid possible injury.  Is there a clear benefit to going as low as possible?  Thanks.

I dip as low as comfortable which puts my chest below my hands. Of course I have only dipped BW+60. I do routinely stretch with internal and external rotation. I also do external rotation exercises HST style.

I go as low as I can but I am particularly careful once I approach the 100lb mark. I particularly like doing negatives for dips but it does give you the feeling that you are about to be ripped in two. Thankfully, that hasn't happened yet!

I think an important safety point is not to bounce out of the lowest position with a lot of weight hanging from your waist. That's asking for trouble.

I have an ongoing AC joint issue that is aggravated by bench press but much less so from dipping, even when going low.
