FST-7 training system

Hello to all.

I have seen recently in various forums the FST-7 training system by Hany Rambod.

Perform 7 sets of an isolation esercise with short rest period to get the maximum pump.
This should stretch the fascia and let the muscle grow (according with the "bag theory").

here the faq from the site:

FST-Faqs

There's a forum also.

Not only that but there is no evidence that stretching the fascia improves growth potential, if you truly can even stretch the muscle fascia to begin with via exaggerated eccentric, or huge pumps.

The "bag theory" by Millward was just that "a theory" which even he did nothing else with since he first wrote about it some 25+ years ago.

I'm pretty sure that fascia is extremely tight and will always be tight against the muscle regardless of how pumped it is, so even if you pump it up, the fascia will tighten back down once the muscle swelling is reduced.

Exactly, the fascia is part of the force conductive system and if it were lax ala "a bag" the force potential of the muscle itself is compromised and we already know that our bodies are smarter than that.

Lastly Millward's work was never about strength training or hypertrophy per se it was about what happened to the various tissues when malnourished and then recovered from malnourishment.

He had the "bag theory" as an envisionment to explain the sudden regrowth of lean tissue (muscle) after starvation. He used the current knowledge at the time that was looking at the effects of passive stretch, damage and hypertrophy and drew some correlation. In some respects he was right on target (looking at ECM and it's potential as a signalling agent), in others it's questionable.

eating a calorie surplus has always worked just fine for me in terms of stretching what needs to be stretched
