Have I overtrained?

"Normal" people might be able to determine this more easily than myself, as I deal with issues that leave me feeling less than 100% on a regular basis, so it can be a toss up.

However, new things that Ive noticed lately are the following:

*  My left eye has twitched off and on for two weeks now (why I started the CNS thread and yes I was suprised by one persons reply, which included that as a symptom)

*  Ive noticed that more muscles are twitching than usual, I spent half hour trying to get my shoulder to stop moving uncontrollably.  Other muscles twitch involuntarily, sporadically.

*  My muscles at times feel like I have sand in them, odd description but the best I can do.  No burning like lactic acid buildup.

*  The real kicker, Im starting to feel less enthusiastic about lifting weights and seem to be tiring easier, although my strength is about the same, yet this just started.

Ive decided to basically stop for a while, although by stop I mean, Im taking 25% of all lifts and basically going through the motions/stretching, doing super slow, hey, it works for me when it comes to aches and pains.

Also bringing back the cardio now that winter is over, well, at least the past couple days its been warm, lately, who the hell knows what kinda weather we will get tomorrow.

Another suprise out of left field, I was doing 45 degree dumbell presses and somehow managed to really screw up my left trapezius muscle...

if someone read my super slow thread, this has no bearing.  As I performed that before my last full cycle, then at the end, I pushed myself pretty good, although I felt great, feeling great, I decided to skip SD or any other alternate training and start the next cycles 10's....yeah yeah mistake.

Thoughts?

it sounds to me like you need a mental SD. i dont recall all of your super slow thread but if memory serves you reall lightened the wgts, went super slow, and used it as sort of a rehab/deload. perhaps that an over simplification but it seems you were happy with it and are planning to go that route again.

the only problem i see is regardless of how "taxing" the work is your still going to the gym 2,3,4 days a week and working out for what sounds like months on end. at some point we all need to physically take time away from lifting but everyone is diff. some folks take off every other month others take 1 to 2 breaks a year. personally, i think the mental time off is just as (if not more) important.

my muscles twitch all the time, and then cease, for no reason thats apparent to me. ive never thought it was tied to overtraining but the interesting thing is you do (possibly). couple that with the muscle lethargy and lack of enthusiasm and it just sounds to me like you need a little time away to recharge your batteries.

good luck

Ive added a banana and have gotten some potassium from the protein powder, seems there is a fair amount in that.

Ive also began adding powdered milk to my diet, which also has potassium in it.

I take a multivitamin AST product.

Diet hasnt changed really a great deal.

Sleep, ah, bout the same as usual.

I think the big kicker was my last workout, I was flat exhausted 1/4 of the way into it, just way out of my element, I crashed hard for lack of a better term.

Its probably all mental, gonna hit it today, see how I feel during and after, might be a good time to mix the old routine up again...make it more interesting...depending on todays results...a week or two break might be in order...we shall see.

Thanks

edit

I guess its just depression related, as this workout, I decided to repeat the last workout, I rotate an A/B routine and the last workout was the more difficult of the two, I went through it no problem, now I need to figure out what cause me to crash and burn last workout...although the twitching has been going on for a while now...guess as stated, thats not abnormal, its happened to me over the years, just dont remember it being like this...eowell.

Thanks
