How to end a cycle?

I am currently at the end of week 4 and have a few questions. If I am gaining strength/weight (which I am) as i go through the cycle, I am going to be able to lift more weight/reps with each max weight day then I had previously tested at. (I got at least 1 to 3 extra reps on 15 rm day) My questions are should I extend each cycle till I hit my true max rather than just switching to next rep scheme, and since i train alone and negatives are out on most exercises do most trainers continue with the 5 rm and just simply try to add weight/reps each workout during weeks 7 & 8?
