HST improvement

Just wonderin, during the first week of every micro cycle (15s, 10s, 5s) we usually use relatively light weights compared to the number of reps that we do. for instance when you move from your 10s to your 5s it would not be uncommon to use your 10RM (or maybe less if you zig zag) during your first few days of 5s. Which is a relatively light compared to the number of reps that U do.

so... would it be better if instead of doing the prescribed 2 sets ,during this period (week), we did 3 or 4 sets since the weight is so light and we could probably handle the volume? after all isnt increased volume a better thing (if U can handle it) ?

so you tell me, do you think this could work?

or you could just carry on doing 10 reps..ie..if your 10rm is 100k and the start of the 5s is 100k just carry on doing 10 reps.

Both can be applied successfully!

It is often used in HST program design to do higher volume (more sets) for the first week of a minicycle.

Makes perfect sense

Besides the higher volume if countered with proper nutrition usually results in good mass gains!
