Hello.
Today I find that my heart resting rate is 85!!
I never did any aerobics since I was a teen.Now I am 30.
This can be the reason why I am so low volume tolerance on my workouts.
If I increase my aerobics conditioning, it will help me build muscle?

Whatever you do to lower your resting heart rate will come out positive. About one year ago, my resting heart rate was 90. Three days after I had quit smoking - about 50 cigs a day - it went down to 76. I was able to start some real conditioning exercises. Today, I take a week off when my resting pulse goes over 70. It's quite normal to have it at around 48 - 54. I can't say that it helps to build muscle. Perhaps aerobic conditioning exercises will cost you some lean mass. But there is nothing better than an improved well-being. The downside is that it is now quite difficult to get my pulse over 130 with aerobic exercises.

it could help you build muscle if you subscribe to the theory that less rest in b/t sets is beneficial (usually w/ higher reps). regardless, improving your conditioning will improve your overall health & longevity. I'm one of the oldsters who still believes "bodybuilding" includes strength AND health

start out slowly & best of luck!

Although I hate cardio for myself, I suffer for lack of it, both in conditioning and for the reason, or belief, that it improves not only the Vo2 uptake, but the muscle cells ability to transport nutrients and produce ATP.

I simply love cardio. But that probably comes from the fact that even slow walking was a challenge for me 18 months ago. If I can't do any cardio for a couple of days now, I get sick.

It's actually like an addiction. But then again, with so many beautiful women around, who wouldn't like to walk for an hour twice a day as I do?
