In search of forgotten lifts

Lately my training has shifted from training for hypertrophy to more of a functional interest concerned with coordination and balance.

I've already integrated lifts like snatch and high pull into my routine, along with the regular compound lifts.

Just recently I found out about the bent press, which makes me wonder if there are more complex lifts that simply have been forgotten.

Another thing I thought about was to incorporate Crossfit-methods like 400-meter sprints before lifting, so as to make a "simple" exercise like the deadlift more challenging i.e. harder to focus on.

More like making the deadlift weaker and more ineffective. You miss the point of hypertrophy that way, but if you want to be good at lifting stuff from the floor after exhaustion, knock yourself out.
This is a hypertrophy/strength forum; I doubt you'll find much support for mixing things. Nothing wrong with functional strength though I find that there is a large crossover effect from BB'ing and strength training regardless. We can do many things the average Joe cannot dream of.

IMHO, you shouldn't do anything to make deadlifting seem 'harder'. You need all your functional strength to ensure that your form stays really good and hence you lift safely.

Deadlifting is not really a simple exercise if you perform it properly. To get it right requires a lot of coordination. To get it wrong is easy.

Yeah, making deadlifting more difficult by getting exhausted in the first place is not the smartest of moves.

Still, I think there's some benefit to this sort of training when you treat it as a way to build mental focus during heavy physical stress. In this light it would make some sense why crossfit-routines are apparently popular with firemen and special service people.

@Quadancer: I didn't mean to imply that bodybuilding is non-functional, just that I started caring more about the "acrobatic" nature of training with weights. Yeah I realize that this is HST/SST, but I also believe there are many knowledgeable people on this board that could help me

Oh, and sorry for double-posting, don't know what happened there.
