You shouldn't rest before you find your maxes. If you did rest for 9 or more days before you found your maxes, you could just estimate your maxes instead of testing them, start your cycle and adjust as necessary during your cycle. If you've been working out a while, you should have a decent sense of what you can do anyway and adjusting mid-cycle won't be a big deal. If you are fairly new, then you really need to just test your maxes, then rest a week or two before starting your cycle.
