It never fails!

Once again my HST cycle has been interrupted. This time in my second week of 5's after my first workout. I have been sick as a dog for the last few days. So I'm guessing I'm not going to be able to continue this cycle because it will probably take a few more days to fully recover. I was also planning on working into a 5x5 right after my HST cycle and it looks like that probably isn't going to happen now.

Sorry just needed to vent a bit.

Grrrrrrr......

I COMPLETELY understand. Get better, Bulldog - then get back to it when you're ready. You've got plenty of time to get huge.

Take care of yourself!

Patience. Since I joined here, I have never been able to finish a single cycle without some kind of interruption. Once it's because of a flu, another time it's the stomach, and so on, and so on. If everything else fails, I injure my right calf. And if that is almost recovered, I injure my left calf. Next week I'm in again - I'm sure my left calf will be okay by then. But that's not so bad; as long as I can continue working out - it's not all that bad, really.

Yeah....It's just frustrating.  I haven't finished a full cycle in a long, long time.  I always have some kind of interruption.  Either an illness, some stupid injury or an unexpected trip out of town screws it up.  Hopefully I'm feeling better by Monday and can get back at it where I left off.

Thanks for the well wishes.

Bulldog,
My recommendation is to go right into the 5x5 when you feel better. I got the flu after my 2nd 5x5 w/o and was out for a week. I repeated w/o #2 and then started from the beginning again. Today I completed w/o #2 of week 2. This is the 1st time I've tried 5x5 and so far I really like it. BTW, I jumped right into 5x5 after the 10's.

Technically, I see time off as a deload. Being sick sort of poops on the recovery effects of a deload, but still, you can come back where you were with a bit lighter weight and move on. If you were sick or off working for 3 or more weeks however, I think that's too long to hit the middle of a cycle, or the heavy sets.

Interruptions are a part of life but they seem so much more annoying when your year is outlined by successive training cycles.

Many of my cycles have been interrupted over the past year, yet, overall, my progress has been steady.

Get well Bulldog and you'll be back at it soon enough.

Ooh yes,

this sounds a bit like my new life coaching guru who told me during the first session to think positive.

He said: Jari, do not say I MIGHT FAIL, you have to say I WILL FAIL.

You have to options, either you restart from where you stopped or go to start again and start with your 15s, 10s or what ever.

Quitting is not an option!

When I hit an interruption, I may just complete an SD (if I am close to needing it anyway) or I continue with the current phase, just start lighter the first time or two back at it, then continue the cycle.

Been there, done that. I just completed my first cycle in about a year. Either it bursitis in my elbow or having to heal from arm surgery twice, etc. I have been lifting all along but couldn't get a good full cycle in. With that said, I just did finish my last cycle, took my SD and just started my new one yesterday. Hoping for my best body every this year!

Just started up again yesterday.  Sore as can be today.

Man, I hate stating over after a long break.  I think this time I'm going to take a week of 15's a week of 10's and go right into a 5x5.

The longer the cycle, the greater the chance of interruption. I always am forced to take days off during my cycles, but as long as those days aren't weeks then I am content!
