i was on another board earlier and got into a discussion about deads.the other dude flat out said that anymore than 5 reps was a waiste,i felt i had to retort.i found while using hst that my max's shot up after incorperating high reps,so i argued the point.

i do understand that with high reps comes the risk of injury through bad form but,i would never discount high reps in a routine.

was just wondering if anyone uses a special formular with deads, basically i dead lift 3x per week but only 1 effective set each day.my deads have come on nicely.im not a fan of multiple sets with deads.

High rep deads are very beneficial and I think everyone should do them. I work deadlifts only once per week with about 2 very light warm ups and 1 working set. I recently did 525 for 15 reps and am prouder of that than my max on deadlifts. When doing high reps, I can also adjust the deadlift for hypertrophy in different areas. Want more glute/hamstring/quad growth ? Do a narrow grip. A wider grip works my back more. The mind/body connection you experience with deadlifts between rep 8 and 15 (when going for max effort) is phenomenal.

As you mentioned, Lcars, bad form brings the danger, not the high reps. I think people who put rep limitations on any exercise are mistaken. Stevejones mentioned doing 525 for 15 ... If he got to 20 instead would that harm his hypertrophy or do you think his back might be even bigger and stronger? Heck, there are folks who think any reps over 5 are cardio ... Just ignore them.
