I think some metabolic work would be sufficient. It makes a world of difference to me, especially if you're doing lower volume. My first HST cycles i was doing 3 sets during the 5's, and i truly believe that was enough metabolic work as it was. My arms ached, burned, pumped, etc.
For metabolic you can do drop sets, but i recommend doing a general set of 15reps unless you're trying to bring up that bodypart. Some metabolic work can be very demanding, so stick to the basics at first to find your capacity. I'd say nvm the pulses unless you have a specific bodypart you want to emphasize, and just stick to general sets of 15 after the compound exercises (or all).
