Number of total sets for BACK

Hello everybody, this is my first post, My question is how many total sets is best for optimum back growth. Should I do 2 sets of lat pulldown, or 1 set of lat pulldowns and 1 bent over rows, or 2 and 2. (obviously all the same day).

You could go as high as 4 sets in a day and be ok I think

I prefer to do just one movement per workout for time reason but you could do 2 exercises if so just break it up into even 1 exercise with 4 sets or 2 exercise with 2 sets either way its 4 sets.

If you are new to lifting just stick with 2 or 3 sets.

I do some form of rowing and some form of pulldown/chin each workout. 1 set each for 15s, 2 sets each for 10 and 3 sets each for 5s. So far so good. Plus deads do a lot for my back too. Most of the time I go round with a sore back!

I like at least 4 sets for back. I do weighted chins and bentover rows, 2 sets each typically. I also do deads and sometimes good mornings, so I guess those hit the back incidentally as well.
The back and legs both particularly can handle a lot. There is nothing more important in my mind than a set of powerful legs and a very strong back.
