Pendlay Rows -> Upright Rows

I assume less weight is needed for pendlay rows than upright rows on a machine. Does anyone have an idea of the ratio/percent/difference?

I currently have both of these in my cycle.  I have been doing uprights (w/o a smith), for quite a long time while this is the first time I've done pendlays.  I can actually do much more on the pendlays.  Most recently, I used 100 on uprights and 165 on pendlays... I'm not sure how strict of form you are wanting to use on the uprights but I really try not to use momentum at all.  Also, I'd imagine they are a bit easier using the smith.

Not sure how much that helped.. and I'm also assuming by machine you meant a smith.

I actually (woops) mean seated rows, not upright rows. Therefore the machine is a pulley or lever machine. Thanks for the reply, any additional thoughts?

Hmm, that's a tricky one. You would "think" that you would be able to do much more on seated, simply because

A) You don't have to really support the weight with your lower back.
B) 150 pounds with pulleys is less resistance than 150 pounds without them.

However, it really depends on your particular machine that you use. The one at school has 3 pulleys, while the one at the gym here at home only has 2. Obviously the more pulleys, the more weight you'll need to use.

Sorry for beating around the bush here... if it helps, I used ~150 lbs. on the seated rows while I did them, and currently am at ~165 lbs. on the pendlays. I'd say for your ratio, they'd be pretty close.
