Yesterday was my 2nd test out of 4 as I am applying to police academy. This 2nd test included physical tests and now I`m curious to know what kind of requirements different countries have. Our test included in this order:
1) 1,5 k run, gotta go under 7 min
2) Obstacle course, gotta go under 42 seconds
3) Carrying and picking up 80 kg doll
4) Pull-ups at least 5 max points with 18
5) Standing long jump, at least 2m25cm
6) Benchpress at least 2 max 25 with 62.5 kg
7) Swimming for 100m, gotta go under 3min
All this is done in single shot with no resting pauses and one fail was allowed. When i first saw these requirements i thought this is easy but dang i was tired after that

And the begun the writing the essays part and psycological tests...

I don't remember exactly, but in the state of Michigan in the USA, you have to be able to jump a certain height, do 20 pushups within 60 seconds, 20 situps within 60 seconds and then run a 1/4 mile in a shuttle run style within a certain time frame. I don't remember what time frame, or the height you had to jump for the vertical jump. I never actually got to take the test because the state is too poor to put anyone else through training right now, but I did them in a practice session and easily defeated each requirement. I was surprised that was all you had to do.

Now only if they redid this test every year and required all the police to continue to be able to pass the test...

They should make it so a cop has to pass it every year. That's a good idea. At least once every other.

What is running shuttle style? What does that mean?

If they did that, first we'd be out of policemen, and second the donut industry would suffer
