Safety

Hi all-
Alas, I'm going to have to take a leave from training for a while- I suffered a minor shoulder separation (class 1, so it could have been a LOT worse) in a bike crash.
I know this is a bit off-topic, but I just wanted to remind everyone who cycles (bikes, mopeds, scooters, whatever) to wear a helmet. I was wearing one when I crashed and it literally saved me from much more extensive (that is, head) injury. My helmet is depressed by about 1/3 of its original thickness at the point of contact. That would have been my head, and the injury would have been quite serious. So, if you don't have a helmet, put out the $30-50 and get one. If you do, wear it on each and every ride (I was just two blocks from home).
OK- end of sermon! I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but if it causes anyone to think about this and do something about it, it was worth it. I care a lot about y'all and wouldn't want to see any of you sustain a bad and highly preventable head injury.
All the best (and I should be lifting- very lightly- soon)
Jake

Get well soon!

Thanks guys! Actually, I'm out of the sling now (to prevent frozen shoulder), and while uncomfortable, it's good to be able to move. Still, I won't be doing any benches soon
