yes.... deadlifts are the natural substitute (though not as good) for squats..... Phoenix, one exercise that has given me the same kick as squat is the Weighted steps.... yes, the one you see girls doing at gyms.... but this one is with 60 lbs at least in each hand and the step should be actually 2 steps high or a bench.... do 15 reps starting with 1 leg and 15 starting with the other one, you will see what I am talking about.
