Stamina Diminished by HST?

Hey guys I noticed that since I have been doing HST and only performing 2 sets per exercise I feel as though I am so accustomed to doing only 2 sets that if I try to do more than that my strength diminishes much quicker than it did when I was training high volume.

For example I am significantly stronger than my friend who trains high volume on the first 2 sets on bench press, but after that I cant keep up anymore....

Do you guys feel like this too or no?

Could be one of two things:

Diet:

Higher frequency requires higher carb intake or,

The type of muscle fibres you have is not conducive to higher frequencies.

What has your response been (body composition wise) to the lower frequency?
 
I find if I've eaten well on a training day I just feel like doing more work so I'll add an extra set here and there. My performance doesn't seem to drop off much for these extra sets although I'm obviously more fatigued by the third or fourth set.
