I have done Tabata squats a little. My plan is once per week. I lift Sat., Mon., Wed., and do Tabata on Thurs. giving me two days to recover from it before lifting again!

Anyway, when I lift, I do full squats. I've been doing them for Tabata too, and man, am I poor at it!

I had done Tabata squats just past parallel before, and I could do 20 - 22 reps in 20 seconds. Now, it's more like 16 - 18 reps in 20 seconds.

Should it matter? It's a butt kicking workout either way. I would say that the full squats are less comfortable than the just past parallel ones.

IMO - Tabata is really about improving your VO2 MAX at teh end of the day!

Obviously the fat burning effects are a major reason motivating one to do them.

ATG squats surely are more difficult and will get you breathing harder making it seem like you are poor at it, yes!

No...at the end of the day, you want the cardio so...stick to the more confortable one, you cannot get hypertrophy from them so what is the point in doing the harder type?

It is crazy to do Tabata squats in the first place!

I have found that doing DLs and squats in the 15s made me very light headed and sucking a lot of wind. I think Tabata is the "medicine" I need. I'm mixing up cardio, 30 minutes moderate one day, 20 minutes HIIT one day, and 10 minutes light plus Tabata one day.
