Too much upper body work?

I've been trying to do mainly compounds this cycle bu think I'm doing a bit too much on upper body work.

I'm doing:

Military press
Flat bench
Lat pull-downs
Close-grip chins
Dips
Bicep curls

I've just started 10s so its not a big deal to drop workouts. Tricep work is important so I could swap extensions for dips.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

Why do you think you are doing too much? Are you running out of energy?

I'm assuming you have only listed your upperbody work and that you are doing leg work too, right? Your upper-body list is basically what I'm doing but I also add triceps extensions and shrugs. I don't find it's too much for me but during 5s I sometimes run out of time to do the arm isos. at the end.

No, not a problem with energy - its just that I want to make sure I'm not overworking myself -- doubling up on exercises.

So you reckon tricep extensions aswell as the dips (I know dips target chest and tris)?

Leg work is a must! Of course I'm doing it

1 Theres no need to do dips, flat bench, military press and tricep extensions in the same workout. I would do flat bench and military bench or dips and incline bench.

2 I wouldnt bother with iso's

3 I would do bent over rows

Happy lifting

I don't see a point in doing both pulldowns and chins. Ditch the pulldowns and do bentover rows instead.

Thanks. I knew some of those would be doubling up.

So if I do --

Flat bench (cant get an incline on the home gym)
Military press
Chins
Bent over rows
Tricep extensions

-- then thats a fairly even balance.

Tot, the pulldowns were wide grip and the chins were close. I thought that the close grip would work more of the chest and shoulders as opposed to the lats in the pulldown. I guess theres too much overlap in the muscles used.

Correction, close grip will work more the lats, biceps, traps, rhomboids and a little of the intercostal muscles, whislt the wide grip will hit more the shoulders & triceps, with a lot less emphasis on the others!

Some say they are better! Give us the insight afterwards!

No probs, many times we rush through this stuff invariably making booboos!

Yep, your routine is solid!

I'll let you know.

I did notice that when I started doing dips (previous cycle) my triceps took on a whole new growth level. Pec development seemed better too. Will know for sure this cycle!
