Im a total begginer for HST and any bodybuilding at all, Is HST right for me?

it says on this page

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/wotw39.htm

This routine is not suggested for a beginner trainee, but for an intermediate or advanced lifter with at least 1-2 years of solid training experience.

I have had none at all

If i were you i wouldn't try HST just yet. Since HST is based on your RM's its likely that you'll get much stronger starting out and easily surpass your maxes. Id use similar excercises to the ones outlined in the program and work each body part three times a week however i wouldn't worry about the periodization. Just start out light and work your way up. Keep it to a rep or so short of failure and just keep building on that. Since your knew to lifting you should get good strength gains. The idea of HST is that we can't progressively increases our weights as quickly as you so we have to periodize. The idea is to always be lifting more, more weight or more reps and you'll grow. Also try and take in more calories. If you don't usually eat alot just try something simple like taking a couple of litres of milk a day and you'll be amazed how much size you put on.

hey thanks alot for the reply! so would training every body part 3 times a week be more efficient than the usual 3 day split as a beginner?

my bad for putting this in general training aswell, it should be in the beginner section so if you thinks its right, could you please move it there.

Thanks

Do HST but for now, just start out with reasonably light weights with the core lifts and progress slowly as you gain strength and learn proper forms. After a couple months you should be ready to test your maxes and set up a real cycle. Either way, you should focus on the core lifts and working your full body three times a week.

hay thanks for the link, its an awesome resource and thanks for the advice tot.

I started lifting weights in January. I did full body workouts three times per week for a couple months. I then learned about HST, and studied it/lurked for a while. Then I felt ready to take the plunge. I'm just now finishing my second cycle. Both cycles were very successful.

You will make fantastic progress with HST. I see no reason why you can't start with it BUT, as the others have said, you will need to work on your form for the core compound lifts before starting a cycle.

Start with a load you can quite easily handle for 15 reps (15s) and as you feel more able, or the weight feels too light, add 5 or 10 pounds. Do that for a month and then try a month of 10s - again, adding weight as and when you feel able to do so but all the while continuing to work on your form. Free-weight exercises like squats and bench can take a great deal of repetition before you feel like you are 'in the groove' when you do them, so don't worry if it seems to take a while to feel in control.

Good advice is to read everything you can on this site. Then read it again!

You will avoid lots of common pitfalls if you do. Do lots of searches on the forum too as there is a ton of good advice in previous posts.
