Strategic Deconditioning is taking time off from weight training. About 9-14 days works best. This is different than just de-loading, decreasing weight/volume, it’s actually not lifting at all. Doing this conditions your muscles to be able to grow while using lighter weights again allowing you do go through another cycle of progressive loading which is what really makes your muscles grow.

Yes you should SD after every cycle. Since the cycle ends with heavy weights you do an SD which resets your muscle to respond and grow from lighter weights again. This is one of the main reasons why HST works to build muscle so much better than many other programs which just have you keep trying to add more weight even when your muscles are so use to it they don’t respond well anymore.
