My current bar is a POS so I'm going to buy a new one. Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent bar in the $250 price range? I know good bars are expensive but that's all I really want to spend.

I'm also not sure if I want an actual Olympic Bar or a power lifting bar. Haven't decided yet. That said, I don't lift a ton of weight so I didn't think it really matters.

Are you talking "Texas Power Bar" ? I thought I had seen different brands with "Texas Power Bar" in the model name. Is there a specific brand I should look at?

I'm not sure how that price translates to GB pounds but it's very hard over here to get a good bar for less than £300. I managed to bend a £200 bar the first week I had it. Returned it and paid the extra for a Taishan elite weightlifting bar. What a difference! Think I got it for around £350 on special offer. Usually around £500.

A power bar will be stiffer than a weightlifting bar.
A bit more whip is handy when doing jerks and when coming up out of the hole in a squat clean. If you don't need that then it'll probably be best to get a stiffer power bar.

My mate has a S/S bastard power bar which he's very pleased with.
He's using it for powerlifting training. He got it for £260 which is currently over £100 cheaper than the Texas power bar S/S are selling. Seems like a very good deal of you are in the UK.
