Well it's to elevate more the metabolism I guess, and allow the muscles to recover.
Doesn't make much sense imo. Walking 5 min on the treadmill between say the pecs and the triceps can be a good idea since it would keep the person warmed up and let the triceps recover, but except for that it...
I read in a magazine about a new study that has just been done that is quite interesting.
The researchers did a meta-analysis of 177 studies to determine what were the best protocols for strength training and came to the following conclusions:
- the optimum protocol for a beginner is 4 sets per...
From an HST pov, rest pauses will not improve the hypertrophy stimulus, since HST states that hypertrophy is promarily a matter of load.
Most likely doing rest-pauses will stress the CNS too much for the frequency that we try to maintain.
Some trainers in my gym recommend doing 1-2 sessions of cardio in the middle of a workout - like 15 min each time -. Do you think it is a good idea? It seems to me that it would just fatigue the person and that it would be better to do the cardio after.
What do you think?
Thanks.
Have a look at that..

Sounds really good. I talked to Charles Poliquin about it - he trains in my gym -...
Ok, thanks everyone for your feedback. :)
Dan, your views are very consistant with those of Bryan's. About the TUT and the number of sets issue, the goal of HST anyways is not to train at the limit of the TUT. The idea is more to get most of the hypertrophic gain and go back to train asap.
And what are your own thoughts?
I'm just trying to get some educated guesses on HST. I'm not criticizing it in any way. Doing science is tough and I know that criticizing is very easy.
And you Dan? You have studied all of this extensively. You have a lot of experience with HST and also other training systems I guess.
So what do you think?
I don't want to start anything here, I'm just asking your opinion. :D
It takes longer apparently for the fat burning effect to take place.
I remember a study saying it takes 2 hours. In the link mentionned before they talk about a study that says 3-4 hours.
My personal experience also suggest that it takes more than 20 minutes. 1h seems to be the minimum.
