barbell or dumbbell?

i have been doing barbell curls with bis, chest and shoulders all with dumbbells mostly because i cant balance the bar together with both arms due to a past shoulder injury unless its a smith machine.

What do you guys do?

Do you think its worth it to drop the weight significantly to be able to bench with the bar, or do a heavier weight with the dumbbells?
example bb bench 135 or db bench 160(80 each arm)

I find i like the bb better for bis imo...

Whats best for HST?

Uh..usually it's the other way around. Just about everyone I've ever met has been able to bench more total weight using a barbell than they are able to with dumbbells.

but i had a shoulder injury that the stress on my shoulder from benching is too painful barbell while it doesnt bother me to do dumbbell

Its no contest, stick with dumbells

- You train each side of your body equally, your dominant arm doesn't take over
- Better for stabilisers and synergists
- YOU can do more weight!
- It doesn't hurt!

The best exercise for HST is the one that lets you put the most load on your arms, try incline d bell bench or close grip chins

:D
