some time talking crap w another training partner
who was having a crap day as well. so finished up
& called it a day.

Looks like a good program you got there.

Try not to let your job situation bother you, a mate of mine was in the same situation, he worried about it for months. The week it finally happened he was real down, thought it was the end. He got another job a couple of months later. He now says it was the best thing that ever happened to him as it took him in a new direction with new people and he's ended up with a much better and higher paying job.

One tip on getting a job. I think every job I've ever been offered I got because of my sporting interests, so don't be afraid to talk about lifting, fitness, health etc. (if the interviewer has an interest!!) Also lifting shows you're the type of person who sets goals and achieves them, employers love that ****!

P.S. Another guy I used to work with got retrenched 5 times!!

thanks for e advice, i'll try to keep my head up.
as for telling prospective employers bout yr fitness
habits i think have to see what industry i'm in.

over here, unless it's fitness related else I doubt
they'll care if let's say u're in banking or admin work.
unless u can carry 1 ton of gold bars with yr bare hands
in the vault

wow 5 x. i hope he's a young guy. a friend's friend
who's 50 yrs old & has 4 kids was retrenched recently
but luckily he found a job in a short time, else he'll
really be down e pits literally.

If you are fit/healthy you are less likely to take sick days and thus are more productive for the company. That counts.

I think Dave was 39 when he was laid off for the 5th time, he got another job as that was how I first met him.

None of the industries I worked in were sports related, I just found that often when they asked those fuzzy type questions or ones like "why should I give you the job?" it was often useful to draw on sports. eg Ans: Because I always prepare well, set targets/write a plan, and then work hard until I meet targets, I even do it at the gym as I follow HST principles that are scientific, I write a 10wk plan with goals etc etc. Of course you don't want to come over as obsessed . . . . . especially when you're packing a muscular bod like u.

Good luck with job hunting.

I usually do my deads, shrugs, and standing calf raises with the same weight. It saves having to reload the bar each time...

I was training in my garage there for quite a while. It gets into the 90s here in the mid - late summer. I bought a big industrial fan to go along with the ceiling fan and oscillating fan I already had. I would drink two or three liters of water during these days while I lifted. I pity you bud, it does suck.

I may be back in that situation to. My partner is moving soon due to divorce and I will be back to my own dungeon. I did however stay more lean during these times if that is any consulation...

Oh yeah! Drinking more water that way definitely has an effect. Much swishing and swashing.

Important safety tip: Do your squats and deads early before you drink all that water to avoid the dreaded toothpaste tube effect. The internal pressure of these lifts tends to squeeze whatever is in the gut right back up the tube!
