Different diet ideas

Does anyone have any thoughts about high milk diets like this one www.danielmaffei.com ('The Diet' section).

He seems to have lived on Milk + bread/bannas etc and packed on the pound (approx 5000 calories a day).

If its a good basis for diet, then it may well work for me as an "ecto"

The magic comes not from the milk and bread but from the sheer number of calories he consumed. There's no need to get fancy. Just use fitday.com to track your calories and macronutrient content. Get at least 1g/lb of bodyweight, and eat what you want for the rest.

I've actually been checking the calories on the foods I've been eating lately (mostly burgers and chips during the day) and found it surprising that a simple ham and cheese sandwich on brown bread has about 200 more calories than a Big Mac and fries! And obviously its much healthier.

It also means I can eat more and not feel as full. I guess a little research goes a long way.

Heh, whats funny is I can make a hamburger twice the size of a big mac and still manage to have the same or fewer calories depending on what I put on it. I'm thinkin its the lean serloin ground beef that's only 50 calories per oz and the 100% whole wheat buns. The cheese I get has fewer calories as well. I can make it taste twice as good too.

I just (this morning) read the nutrition guide on the back of a loaf of hovis - as you do....

It says the daily recommended calorie intake for a man is 2500

I'm doing just above that to gain mass....that can't be right can it? I guess they could be basing it on people who regularly exercise and so burn quite a few cals.

Yup, thats the normal estimate for a 75kg man. Its based on older information of what is required over and above BMR. Newer research is showing that needs rethought as people are getting lazier and lazier. Even with moderate activity 4x per week, the average persons will would need less than this.

The fat content is too high for me. . . I too easily gain fat. Your mileage may vary.

And I don't know how well that particular milk ranks for EFA's, but it's probably not too high if it's coming from typical dairy cows, who are rarely grass-fed. They get a lot of beans and sorghum these days.
