Eating Habits

I have an extremely high metabolism and would like to gain weight. I was wondering if it is better to eat whenever you are hungry or just meals (a specific number of meals per day).

Thanks

When looking to gain weight its best to wait till you're hungry so you can eat the most calories in one sitting.

When looking to lose it would be just the oposite, eat small meals when you aren't hungry.

I wouldn't look to this as your only answer to gaining weight however.

Check your thyroid too. Many people are so happy to eat and not get fat and then they discover their thyroid is too active.

Your body tends to compensate for your eating intervals, whatever you make them. It doesn't really help.

Your better bet is to measure your daily calories carefully for a few days of meals-only, filling up as much as you can. Then measure a few days of eat-a-little-all-the-time.

Which way do you personally put away more healthy calories (not greasy snacks)? There's your winner.

i'm dieting, and from personal experience i've tried doing multiple small meals, but found it's just too annoying and time consuming. just keeping track of daily calories is probably more important, it's easier, and even if not optimal, it's slowly been working for me (with weekend refeeds)

I do the same on Friday's and Saturdays, I'll get a good 3500 calories then from Sun-Thurs I'll stay around 1900, which is real hard. Its even harder trying to keep both carbs and fat low and still get my weight in protein. Most the carbs I get however are complex and I'm getting around 30-35g of fiber each day. As far as I know fiber does reduce a couple hundred calories absorbed though I'm not so sure that is totally accurate.
