eating out too much cals??

i've been looking around at different diet plan of people.. and many people heavier (like 170-180) than me (145) are eating somehwere around 3000cals (just like i do)... am i going wrong with it? i've been doing my plan for like 5 weeks and gained around 5lbs.. is that too quickly too much? will i gain more fat by going that way??

I wouldn't worry about it too much, you can always cut down later on. How many calories you need will depend on your activity level too, not just your weight. If you are gaining well on 3000 a day, you don't need to eat less. However, if you are gaining a lot more fat than you would like, you could try trimming your calories down carefully.
 
You certainly don't need 3,000 calories a day at 145 lbs. so if you dont meet that requirement for the day don't sweat. I also think a lb. a week is a good way to put on weight, by that I mean I dont think its too fast. Like Totentanz said you can always cut it off later.
