That's an interesting idea. I would otherwise think of increased protein synthesis as being a "local" phenomenon in the muscle that's recently experienced stress, not one of a "global" nature on the whole body.

Well yeah, obviously. But there are other growth signals besides just protein synthesis, and though most are local, still there is growth occuring all week long. That's my point... gains all week instead of just gains in a few areas for a few days.
